The living room was bathed in the soft glow of the evening sun, the curtains half-drawn to keep out the fading light. The light that filtered through was warm, golden, casting long shadows across the marble floor and painting the walls in shades of amber and rose.
The room was quiet, the only sounds were the distant chirping of crickets from the garden and the soft hum of the air conditioner. The furniture seemed to glow in the dim light, the dark wood of the coffee table reflecting the dying rays, the deep burgundy of the sofa seeming to absorb them.
